Floods 2019, Skardu, Pakistan



In August 2019, a massive flood hit the beautiful valley of Tinjus, Baltistan. The catastrophe was sensed before it started by some boys who were up the hills for a walk. From there they phoned the inhabitants of the valley eventually the people left their houses and evacuated the endangered area. It saved the lives of hundreds of people. There are many plants and trees in it. In spring season flower of many colours blossoms. Their fragrance spreads all around. In the evening the garden is crowded by men, women and children. People wander here and there and enjoy themselves. Children run into the garden. At first, they are here and the other moment they are in the next corner of the garden. Every evening, I also visit the garden. Many gardeners take care of it. 

SILENT STEPS (Poem By Tagore)

His full name was Rabindranath Tagore. He was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata (Calcutta) India. He was a famous poet, philosopher, prophet and a critic he died on 7 August 1941 Kolkata(Calcutta) India. Tagore rejected formal schooling and learned much at home. He attended University College, London,  to study law but quit before the completion of the degree. Although Tagore is famous for poetry, he did his best in writing novels, essays, short stories, plays and articles. His masterwork is ‘ Gitanjali ’ (a collection of poems) a spiritual journey from finite to infinite, it earned him the title of ‘mystic poet’. He composed more than 2000 songs. He is the official composer for the national anthem of  India and Bangladesh. In 1913, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for ‘Gitanjali’. In 1915, the British Crown granted a Knighthood that he returned after Jallianwala Bagh massacre (also known as the Amritsar took place on April 1919 when British Indian Army fired machine guns on unarmed protest

A Collective Vision for Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan has recently seen peace, tranquility and social harmony after being plagued by sectarian violence for nearly three decades. Many people think that this peace and tranquility is schematic and short-lived rather than being systemic and long term in nature. Schematic because the peace and harmony has been attained without much political efforts at reconstructing the institutional structures and economic basis of sectarianism. Critics also believe that this peace and interfaith harmony is founded on a cosmetic political arrangement because of the mounting pressure to provide a safe and secure political environment at the gateway of CPEC. Whatever may be the causes of the peace, it is a positive development and now is the time to initiate the institutional reforms to reconstruct an inclusive political system.
